Is a heat pump worth it?

For most terraced houses in Almere, a hybrid is the easy first step. It hangs outside and works with the boiler you already have.

How we worked this out
  • Gas use 1,200 m³ a year, of which 1,000 m³ for heating.
  • The heat pump takes over 70% of the heating, so 700 m³ of gas is no longer used.
  • That gas gave about 6,150 kWh of heat. The heat pump makes this with about 1,540 kWh of electricity (4 units of heat for every unit of electricity over a year).
  • Prices used: gas €1.45 per m³, electricity €0.30 per kWh. Fixed network costs stay the same and are left out.
  • Your house will be different. We calculate with your own meter readings, for free, during a home visit.
